JUVÉDERM Vycross-era fillers: why one filler does not fit every facial area
Patients often hear product-family names before they understand what distinguishes the individual fillers. The more useful question is what a specific product is designed and labeled to do - and whether it fits the anatomy and treatment goal.
The products have different labeled uses
Within the current U.S. JUVÉDERM collection, VOLUMA® XC, VOLLURE® XC and VOLBELLA® XC do not share one interchangeable indication. Official labeling identifies different approved facial uses for these products.
For example, the manufacturer lists VOLUMA XC for selected cheek, chin and temple indications; VOLLURE XC for moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds; and VOLBELLA XC for lip/perioral and under-eye hollow indications in adults over 21.
Filler selection should follow the treatment objective
Choosing filler by brand family alone ignores rheology, tissue characteristics, depth, structural goal, mobility and surrounding anatomy. A product that makes sense for structural projection may not be the same product selected for a highly mobile or delicate area.
The consultation should therefore begin with the facial problem being addressed, not with a syringe that needs to be used.
Define the anatomical goal first.
Discuss whether the product is being used within or outside its labeled indication.
Understand common risks and alternatives before treatment.
Ask how the treatment fits the broader face rather than treating one feature in isolation.
